1 Device Overview
The HP5900AF-48XG-40SFP+ switch is a Layer 2/Layer 3 Ethernet only switch.
It has 48 10G ports and 4 40G ports.
2 Setting up the HP5900 switch for Telnet access
Note that the Ethernet management port on the back cannot set a gateway unless it is in
“Emergency Shell mode” which it will only do if the firmware doesn’t load. To get to the switch via telnet,
I had to set a default static route, which could cause issues when running other traffic. It will probably
flood through the hub.
