36 Continuous Access XP for the XP1024/XP128

You can install dedicated ESCON channels or use existing ESCON channels connected by ESCDs.

Logical paths between the MCU and RCU must be separate from logical paths between the host and RCU.

All remote copy activities between two XP disk arrays can share the same remote copy connections.

ESCDs can accommodate multiple MCU-RCU remote copy connections (Figure 10).

You can configure n-to-1 or 1-to-n remote copy connections (n≤4) using the dynamic switching capability

of ESCDs to share physical interface cables between components (Figure 11).

NOTE: 1-to-n configurations (one main disk array and multiple remote disk arrays) are valid for

Continuous Access XP Asynchronous, as long as a consistency group does not span remote disk arrays.
