Table 7-6 Problems Using the Floppy Disk Drive

Problem Solution

The ﬂoppy drive does not

respond to commands.

Re-enter the commands and make sure you have

typed them correctly.

Make sure you speciﬁed the device ﬁle

/dev/floppy/c0t1d0

for commands that require a device ﬁle name.

Make sure the write-protect tab is set to write if

you are trying to copy data to a ﬂoppy diskette.

Follow the instructions in the section “Running

System Veriﬁcation Tests” later in this chapter to

verify that the ﬂoppy disk drive is functioning

properly.

Make sure cables (power, data, etc.) are

connected.

If problems persist, contact your system administrator or call your designated

service representative.
