A hardware upgrade is now
requ:ired for any HP DTC48
purchased before March 26,1991
(date code less than 31 10). Any
DTC48 shipped after this date
does not require the hardware
upgrade. The
DTC16 does not
require an upgrade.
The HP
DTC48 upgrade kit
(P/N 2348A) provides the required
hardware and firmware to sup-
port the new functionalities intro-
duced by the HP OpenView DTC
Manager Release 10.5. The kit has
an enhanced asynchronous card
that replaces the existing one lo-
cated in slot
#O.
The upgrade kit
does not require an additional

With the upgrade kit, any existing
HP
DTC48 becomes
a
multivendor
communication
server. The coex-
istence of the two
pr~~tocol stacks
(full standard
TelnetTCPAP and
AFCP), the Pad-to-Telnet protocol
conversion. and new
functionali-
ties such as multisession/sym-
bolic names addressi nglsupport of
routers require additional mem-
ory. The
DTC48 has been im-
proved as of date code 3110
to
provide this memory, as has the
DTC16, which is a more recent de-
sign. The upgrade kit illustrates
HP commitment to protect your
investments.
