Navigating HP Insight Management with the Storage Module
HP Insight Management displays information about HP storage systems. To access the Overview
page, select a component in the inventory tree, and then access HP Insight Management. The
Overview page opens by default. For more information, see “Accessing Insight Control for vCenter”
(page 22).
The Overview page for servers and clusters is shared between the Server Module and Storage
Module. The Overview page for datastores and VMs is available only when the Storage Module
is installed. For information about the overview pages, see the following:
• “Managing servers” (page 32)
• “Managing clusters” (page 28)
• “Managing datastores” (page 39)
• “Managing VMs” (page 39)
Managing datastores
To access the Overview page for a datastore, select a datastore in the inventory tree, and then
click the HP Insight Management tab.
From the Overview page, you can do the following:
• Access the News Feed, Storage, and Software/Firmware portlets. For more information, see
“Accessing storage information on the Overview page” (page 39).
• Perform provisioning operations from the Actions drop-down menu. For more information, see
“Provisioning storage” (page 66).
• View the News Feed. For more information, see “Using the Server Module for vCenter”
(page 27).
• View read-only information about the storage associated with the selected component. For
more information, see “Accessing storage information on the Overview page” (page 39).
Managing VMs
To access the Overview page for a VM, select a VM in the inventory tree, and then access HP
Insight Management.
From the Overview page, you can do the following:
• Access the News Feed, Storage, and Software/Firmware portlets. For more information, see
“Accessing storage information on the Overview page” (page 39).
• Perform provisioning operations from the Actions drop-down menu. For more information, see
“Provisioning storage” (page 66).
• View the News Feed. For more information, see “Using the Server Module for vCenter”
(page 27).
• View read-only information about the storage associated with the selected component. For
more information, see “Accessing Insight Control for vCenter” (page 22) and “Accessing
storage information on the Overview page” (page 39).
Accessing storage information on the Overview page
When using HP Insight Management with the Storage Module for vCenter, storage information
appears in the News Feed, Software/Firmware, and Storage portlets, and in the consolidated
status information for hosts and VMs.
• News Feed—Select a host or VM, and then click the More link in the News Feed portlet to
view recent events related to the selected component. See Figure 11 (page 40).
