add target

Description Adds a new target to the target pool. The target name must be world wide

unique. If all target elements are already conﬁgured (all slots are in use in

thetargetconﬁguration table), an error is returned.

NOTE:

To bind logical units to target LUNs, use the bind unit command. To create

iSCSI portals to allow initiators access, use the add ip, add portal_group,

add portal, b

ind portal_group,andbind portal commands.

Syntax add target [name=<name>] [alias=<alias>]

Operands name=<name>

[Optional] A fully qualiﬁed iSCSI target name (1-223 characters). If no

iSCSI name is given, a default is generated.

alias=<alias>

[Optional] A fully qualiﬁed iSCSI alias name (1-16 characters).

Example

CLI> add target name=NewTarget1 alias=NewAlias1

The iSCSI target was added successfully.

Name: newtarget1

Alias: newalias1
